RHOSON WELSH PONY STUD
"Section B"

After some 40 years of breeding Welsh Section B ponies John and Glenys Davies have decided to slow down and retire. As a result the stud has been dispersed by private sales. We are delighted that each of the ponies sold have gone to enthusiastic and knowledgeable homes where we hope to hear about their progress. Only two remain at home with Rhoson Shem  travelling to the Eyarth Stud for the2011/2012 seasons ( www.eyarth.com ) Over the years they have worked hard to reach their goal of breeding a Welsh Section B Pony that is a suitable ride for a child coupled with a superb temperament which makes being in their company a pleasure.

Two mares remain, scanned in foal for 2012 to
Heniarth Wood-Wind
Rhoson Sipsi (Cottrell Faberge x Rhoson Tlws by Downland Rembrandt)
Rhoson Anna-Lena (Millcroft Ghost x Rhoson Anja by Eyarth Sama)

STOP PRESS - Exciting news that Rhoson Shems first two foals of 2012 at the Eyarth Stud are both fillies and very pleasing - can't wait to see photos ourselves!

  TWO RHOSON SIPSI OFFSPRING

Rhoson Shani (above left) by Heniarth Wood-Wind and Rhoson Mandolin (above right) by Steehorst Kyro have started of the 2012 season well in the North of England for Pam & Rob Doughty of the Cortworth Stud. Great results for one of the two remaining mares at Rhoson.

NORWAY CALLING

Great to here news of Eyarth Ramah (Carwed Charmer x Eyarth Isabella) from his proud owner HelleLarsen in Norway
. Ramah was at Rhoson for a few years before heading off to Scandinavia where he has become a great ambassador for the breed.

GERMAN JOURNAL

We have only just received a copy of the German Society Yearbook for 2011 to find that the cover photo is of the top show-jumping Welsh Part-Bred, Rocky Telor - a son of Rhoson Telor who was exported to Germany in 1978 to the Janssen Family. Telor was by Downland Torreador out of Tan-y-Groes Twilight.

RHOSON SHANCO - (Heniarth Wood-Wind x Rhoson Sipsi), third  at the Welsh National Foal Show, the property of Lisa Perrott, Ty-Golau Welsh Ponies

Nefydd Awel Ebrill by Rhoson Adonis out of  Nefydd Arabella was Champion Section B foal at the NPS Area 27 foal show. An exciting first crop for Adonis who is by Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Anja by Eyarth Sama.

  RHOSON DOES RUSSIA

It has come to our attention that Rhoson Tamarisk (Cottrell Faberge x Rhoson Tyner) has made his way to Moscow and is now the property of
Tatiana Muraveynik and her Verona Horse Club.

As a two year old he was shown from Heniarth for owner Irene Anderson of the Pumlon Stud when he won at Lampeter Stallion Show,  the Royal Welsh and the W.P.C.S. Centenary Show.

He stood for a while at Laithe Hill and  and enjoyed a brief but successful ridden career with India Latter.

We wish Tatiana the best of luck in establishing the Welsh breeds so far from their native lands and hopefully by starting out with a Royal Welsh winner already she'll soon find success.

(If you take the time to look at Tatiana's website you will see at the bottom of the left side bar that she has used an image of Heniarth Mr. Milligan jumping x-country - she obviously has a good eye for quality!)

CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK!

This is Kallared Windrose (right, by Heniarth Wood-Wind x Rhoson Anja by Eyarth Sama) at her home in Sweden, looking strikingly like her cousin Heniarth Ting-a-Ling.
Purchased in utero by Mia Andersson at Fayre Oaks 2010 she also looks every inch her fathers daughter, with hopefully a great future ahead of her.
ROYAL WELSH SUCCESS

Pam and Rob Doughty of the Cortworth Stud had some excellent results at the Royal Welsh with their progeny of Rhoson Sipsi by Cottrell Faberge.
Rhoson Mandolin by Steehorst Kyro (photo left) was second in the three year old colt class and Rhoson Shani by Heniarth Wood-Wind was third in the yearling filly class.
Both shown by Pam and great ambassadors for the Sipsi family.
INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS FOR A FIRST CROP

Following on  from our story below that same Nefydd filly foal (right) from the first crop  by Rhoson Adonis (Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Anja) has been doing well in the show ring by collecting firsts at the Clwyd WPCS Assoc Show, WPCS International Show and the Flint & Denbigh Show.
Definitely a young sire to watch out for?!

RHOSON PERSAWR

It was great to see Rhoson Persawr (right) at the Royal Welsh looking so well for Paul and Lesa Ratcliffe.
Persawr was part of the winning Royal Welsh progeny group for Eyarth Sama in 2000 when she joined fellow yearlings Rhoson Shem and Rhoson Anja - the rest as they say.... is history!
Her dam is Rhoson Pluen (Rhoson Taranaki x Pennwood Santa Monica)

RIDDEN SUCCESS AT PONIES (UK)

Jade Neal and Rhoson Armagnac (left, by Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Na Nog) have been notching up some good wins in the North of England and were recently awarded the Junior Rider championship at Ponies (UK).
Sadly Armagnac is for sale but a great opportunity for another youngster to benefit from all of Jade's hard work.

SWEDISH SUCCESS

Exciting news from Agnetha Hjortsparre in Sweden that Rhoson Hei-di-Ho (Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Sipsi) has been winning at the shows including Nybro where she was a gold medal recipient, Reserve Champion Section B to only then turn the tables on the Champion in the Best in Show competition. Great to hear news of her doing so well and so much appreciated.
She's now covered by Downland Jaguar

RHOSON SHEM ENJOYING LIFE AT EYARTH
It was great to receive these photos from American enthusiast Gretchen Aitkin after she visited the Eyarth Stud this summer and to hear her comments -

"Though I'd seen and admired many photos of Shem over the years, I was unprepared to fall completely, head over heels, in love with him the moment I saw him. Oh yes, I already knew I liked him -- but oh my, he is so incredibly stunning in person!"

Gretchen has his daughter Rhoson Bon-Bon at her farm in Oregon so was already a fan and we thank her for her kind words.

RHOSON SHEM has arrived safely at the EYARTH STUD ready for the 2011/12 seasons

FIRST FOALS BY RHOSON ADONIS AT NEFYDD

It was an honour when Margi Edwards chose Rhoson Adonis (Steehorst Kyro x Rhoson Anja by Eyarth Sama) as her new stud stallion after she had been so impressed by his father and grandfather at the Weston Park Stud in Australia. Luckily her intuition has paid off as she has rewarded with a lovely first crop of foals by him, and fillies too, that had been scarce on the ground at Nefydd for  a few years!

Photo right is a filly out of Nefydd Arabella by Carwed Charmer. More pictures can be seen on the Nefydd website . It's great to know that the unique bloodlines in Adonis' pedigree are working.

RHOSON FOALS 2011

Spring wouldn't be quite the same at Rhoson without any foals at all so Sipsi duly obliged with this handsome colt by Heniarth Wood-Wind - already inquisitive at a few days old, we plan on naming him Rhoson Shanco. His sister Rhoson Shani has been winning already this season and he looks like he could follow in her footsteps.

It was great to hear news from the mares we sold that they all foaled safely; Rhoson BiBi a colt with Si Lwli and Anja both having fillies.

Royal Welsh winner RHOSON SIPSI remains at the stud
scanned in foal to
Heniarth Wood-Wind for 2012.

Unbeaten when shown as a yearling including winning the Royal Welsh, Shem is siring some lovely stock including Rhoson Bon Bon - exported to Clarwood Farms in the USA and Rhoson Dubonnet  top price colt foal at the  Fayre Oaks sale 2003 - sold to  C and C Duke . During 2003 Shem was shown under saddle. Expertly ridden by India Latter  qualifying for the NPS Picton  final and winning several strong classes and a WPCS Performance Medal .Shem also won a WPCS Bronze medal and qualified for the New London Gold Championship. During the Spring 2004, Shem won the £100 stallion class at Lampeter Stallion Show as well as the breed championship at Glanusk Stallion Show and Ridden Welsh Champion at the National Pony Society Summer Championships as well as qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show in-hand and under saddle, believed to be the first time a Section B pony has achieved such distinction.

Shem was named as Male and Overall Champion Welsh Section B at the Royal Welsh Show 2006, also claiming the Cuddy Championship and therefore qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show for a second time.

When partnered by Jonathon Stevens, Shem  continued his winning ways under saddle, winning many major awards, qualifying for the Horse of the Year Show on three more occasions as well as becoming  twice National Champion and Best of Breed at the N.P.S./Baileys Horse Feeds Olympia ridden championships in 2009.
